Frequently Asked Questions

What is NAWBO? Founded in 1975, the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) is the unified voice of over 9 million women-owned businesses in the United States representing the fastest growing segment of the economy.

NAWBO is the only dues-based organization representing the interests of all women entrepreneurs across all industries; and with chapters across the country. With far-reaching clout and impact, NAWBO is a one-stop resource to propelling women business owners into greater economic, social and political spheres of power worldwide.

What is NAWBO's mission? Our mission is to help connect women to the resources, people, information, and organizations that can help them achieve their personal, business, or political goals. This is achieved by:

  • Strengthening the wealth creating capacity of our members and promoting economic development within the entrepreneurial community
  • Creating innovative and effective change in the business culture
  • Building strategic alliances, coalitions and affiliations
  • Transforming public policy and influencing opinion makers

What if I’m not a business owner? Can I still join NAWBO? Yes! NAWBO has several membership categories which allow for individuals to join NAWBO without owning a business. For example, an individual can join as an Emerging Business Owner if he or she is a first-time business owner with a business less than two years old or has not yet started his or her business. An individual can also join as a Supporting Member if he or she is not a business owner.

Do I have to be a woman to join NAWBO? No. NAWBO is open to both women and men who support the objectives of NAWBO to promote and elevate women business owners and wish to lend support to that mission. It’s a great way to build business connections regardless of whether or not you are a woman and whether or not you own a business.

What is the cost of NAWBO membership? We offer three different types of NAWBO membership:

  • Premier Member Category- $29.95/Month
  • Introductory Member Category- $19.95/Month
  • Supporting Member Category- $39.95/ Month
